As ever, what a great day out, sun, friends and what a lot of them. Over 20 members got involved in the day which once again turned out to be very profitable. Some members that rarely make it to The Shed because of various health problems managed to plod round, it's amazing what the sun can do for you especially with the lure of a convivial catch up. It was nice to meet one of the Wickham members, they appear to be going great guns at the moment.
I am not sure what the correct soubriquet is nowadays: Mayor, Lady Mayor or Mayoress so I just hope that I chosen the one that attracts the least opprobrium, but anyway, we were paid a visit by our Mayor Cllr. Pal Hayre and her escort. I sort of got the feeling that she may have been a little taken aback by the size and variety of articles on our stand but that may just have been a misconception although she may have been warned previously of that bunch of old male reprobates.
Splat the Rat had a small queue nearly all of the time and even our Mayor tried her hand but our rats proved too quick for her. I must admit I think that I saw more winners this year than I have ever seen before, I think that people must have been practising for it this year. Wine or whine went down a storm as it always does, we ran out of water again and had to go over to the Co-Op where we managed to empty their shelves and still we needed more, but then water is far better for you than alcohol in this hot weather, apparently it keeps the skin hydrated.
