Stubbington Fayre.

It doesn't seem possible that another year has gone by since the last Fayre. It was a great shame that EricC couln't join us this year but he was there in spirit and with the refurbishment of the trailer that he kindly gifted us on his parting he was certainly there in spirit.
After the unloading of the trailer we laid out our stall, once again a double pitch was used and thank goodness because we needed it all. Unfortunately our next door neighbour had inadvertantly encroached into our spot but happily there was no animosity and we helped them move. Different to last year when we had nobody on one side of us allowing us to spread to a triple pitch.
We needed to clear some storage space in The Shed so created our own car boot sale at the back of the pitch and thanks to GordonH and his crew it proved to be extremely popular and profitable. Hardly anything was left at the end of the show, we now have some more space and it has swelled our funds very nicely.
Great weather - AGAIN - and great crowds. Much interest shown in the handicrafts and The Shed in general. From the number of membership enquiries we got it just proves what a necessary support function sheds are providing to the community. Wine or Whine was a really great pull. In fact ChrisH and I had to troddle across to the Co-Op and buy their last four packs of water. Nice move because we cornered the market and people were just as happy to win a bottle of water as they were when they won the wine.
Isn't it amazing how the old games are still so much appreciated. Rats got splatted on a very regular basis. The young lad in pictures 8 and 9 was an absolute jewel, the look on the children's faces even if they missed their rats made it all worth while and this lad's brother wasn't going to leave until he had had his go. Fun has no age limit as the two young ladies prove. Many thanks to all of those that gave their approval for these pictures to be published.
And this lucky lady had the last bottle with about eight bottles of water left. We obviously closed the stall at this point, maybe next year we need to think about more bottles.
The draw for the Peter the Painter cuddly was made on time and was actually won by one of The Shed's members - no fiddling there honest, and we don't even know the identity of the lady that drew the ticket.
Everything packed and returned to the Shed. Tomorrow means the final clear up. It was hard work but extremely enjoyable. Let us hope that we have brought a few smiles to people's lives and that our efforts will help some retired men find a new interest in life.
