Buddy bench.

When the National Shed organisation put out a challenge to shed groups across the country — build a two-seater buddy bench for a worthy cause, backed by a small materials grant — we didn't hesitate to get stuck in.
Our treasurer, Cliff, put in the grant application, and planning got underway for a bench that would find its home with our good friends at Catisfield Community Centre, who kindly host our monthly meetings.
KimD stepped up to lead the build, with me lending a hand along the way.
Our first worry was that the grant alone wouldn't stretch to cover the timber — but fortune smiled on us when a generous donation of mahogany offcuts landed in our lap, and these have since formed the backbone of the seat.
The build is coming along nicely and has now reached the first-assembly stage, with just a few finishing touches left to make. All being well, the finished bench should be ready to present within the next few weeks.
