Christmas Presents
Back in early October the Trustees thought that it would be a nice community goodwill gesture to do the Christmas appeal again. With the issues that Covid has inflicted on us all some families have lost more than their freedom. Sadly as the furlough scheme came to an end many lost their jobs. Then just for good measure the government withdrew the £20 a week extra support payment on the Universal Credit leaving many families at least £80 a month worse off. Then if all that was not enough energy prices have gone through the roof leaving difficult decisions to be made by parents, eat or heat?
So our appeal went out at the end of October and our members responded magnificently. During November many of you made donations by placing money in an envelope and passing it to a Trustee.
In order to give the dedicated volunteers at the Church of St Margaret Mary, Park Gate sufficient time to buy all the goods, make up the food parcels and then deliver them, we needed to hand over our contribution by the first Sunday of advent 28th November.
We achieved this in style handing over £700! which will make 13 to 14 food parcels

So while you are all enjoying your Christmas dinner you will now enjoy it even more knowing that there are at least 13 local families having a better Christmas thanks to our members
