The assembled host.

Another year come and gone and next year will see us celebrating our 10th anniversary, the intervening years seem to have gone oh so quickly.

Anyway, back to 2024-2025 and our ninth Annual General Meeting, this year held at Catisfield Memorial Hall. From a membership of 88, 44 managed to make it, so along with Fareham's Mayor and consort, Graham Gowman, our local UKMSA ambassador and Debora Fitton, the Home Service Advisor at Florence Court Care Home (thanks for the coffee and cake on the social afternoons that we have spent there), in all it was a very good turn-out.

We started with an introduction, welcome and the normal safety briefing from Chris Hodgson along with the normal request that everybody sign in, it’s amazing how many people forget to do this so my attendance figures above may be slightly lower than they should be, who then passed the microphone to Cliff Jones for an intricate account of our finances – nothing to worry about there at the moment. Then back to Chris H for a word or three about men’s health. At his request, just as a reminder, he asked me to read a poem that was written specifically for us by a lady from Eaton Aertospace, you can find it in the short article on our webpage under April 2023, saya just about everything that there is to say about Men’s attitude to well-being and just to round it off I also read Bruno’s farewell to Thommo, that always brings a lump to my throat but just shows how somebody you never even knew can have such a affect on you.

Three trustees stood down, two were re-elected but Pat Kinchin found himself unable to carry on due to lack of time (what a busy life he leads) so his place has been taken by Christopher Carter, yes a fourth trustee whose name begins wit a C, I can see that this year is going to be even more concerning than last.

Then came the good news that for the next year subs. will stay the same but custard creams, tea and coffee would be free to all members. To finish off I presented Cllr. Hayre, our Mayor, with a floral bouquet courtesy of our regular kindly florist Moonstones Florist. and she gave us a chat in which she praised what we are doing and achieving, offered suggestions of where and how to raise funds but no mention of any council help in finding our own premises. Lastly Graham finished it off with a story about his chameleon with reptile disfunction.

All-in-all a great meeting, minutes will appear and be posted in the normal places when Peter manages.
