This month saw three members celebrate 250 years of survival between them. Barry G. and Rod P. each passed the 80 year mark and Gordon, as I am sure we all know by now, celebrated a glorious 90 years. Rod is a founding member whilst Gordon joined 6 months later and Barry is a relatively recent newcomer joining in 2018. All three of them have been absolute stalwarts of The Shed although we haven't seen much of Barry lately due to various reasons.
Last week, we had a small ceremony in The Shed for Gordon as it was felt that a member that had attained such a ripe old age and is still an absolute vital member for us, what with his running the tool sales at events like Stubbington Fayre and if ever you need a bird house/table, he's your man. One of the other members (I can't recall who at the moment) made some fantastic pens from .303 shells so we had one engraved and presented it to him just as a reminder of his childhood. Have a browse the attached pictures to see what went on.
Rod has been so important to The Shed, as a founding member he has obviously had quite an affect on the way the we have grown and all of the help and advice that he has given members through his 9 years has been so appreciated. He has attained notoriety as our very own in-house stripper (of wire that is) which has brought thousands of pounds into our coffers.
Barry, although recently suffering from health problems that have precluded him from joining in the mainstream social side of things due to the social area being on the upper floor, has been there whenever we needed him. He has no instant claim to fame although we would have been up the creek at the early Stubbington Fayres had he not lent us his gazebo. On a very personal basis his help in finding second hand kitchen units to fit my garage out has been so appreciated.
