How to build a castle

A short while ago a stranger accosted Oliver in The Shed and asked if he thought that members could recreate this castle. Unfortunately something happened in the relaying of the message and the phone number that he was given never worked. We understood that it was for the R.O.S. What on earth was the ROS? After much discussion we tied it down to being the "Royal Order of Scotland" - what on earth was that? We obviously have no masons in our Shed as it finally turned out to be an esoteric branch of the Masons with it's headquarters in Edinburgh. A quick e-mail to the membership secretary and with his help contact was made.

It was the perfect project for one of our newest members, Luay, problem is that he is currently just starting to learn English having recently re-located from the Middle East. He has skills that are plainly amazing in model-making as the pictures show.

There are some decorations that hopefully our 3D printing department will be able to supply. The specification for the castle is very exacting, for example the number of steps leading to the front door must be exactly 15, 14 or 16 just won't do. It has got to be easily disassembled and just as importantly, easily re-assembled as it's final destination is for a new lodge in the Far East. I guess that we will need to treat it to make it impenetratable to termites and the like.

As the build progresses more pictures will be added so keep checking back as it promises to be a very interesting project.
